2008 Doctoral Nursing Research Studentship winner
Elizabeth McGinnis, Tissue Viability Nurse Consultant, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Research Project: Heel pressure ulcers: a study of wound healing
Elizabeth has worked as a Nurse Consultant in Tissue Viability for the past ten years, five years for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and previously in Leeds Primary Care Trust.
Her research will identify patients with heel pressure ulcers and follow their pathway of care to the point of healing. The information will inform future interventional research studies and help in the understanding of the best way to treat these patients. Additional attention will be given to people who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis.
- This Studentship is the first joint Smith & Nephew Foundation and Multiple Sclerosis Society Doctoral Nursing Research Studentship to be awarded.
Elizabeth will be undertaking her PhD research at the University of Leeds.
