Foundation Award Winners

It is said that substantial awards, such as the Smith & Nephew Foundation Nursing Research Awards, are rare in nursing, but are needed to enable programmes of nursing research to be established. We have targeted a fundamental area of nursing practice, and one which has been largely ignored, therefore increased amount of research in this field will ultimately enhance the nursing care patients receive.

We feel that our awards are a unique opportunity for nurses to focus upon gaining the requisite knowledge, skills and experience to undertake robust research. As a result, academic units around the country are able to establish solid foundations from which to build the much needed evidence base for the prevention and effective management of tissue breakdown.
