Our Campaign
Developing the evidence base is the key to improving the treatment and care received by those suffering from skin and tissue breakdown, reducing costs and enhancing quality of life for countless patients and families.
What is now needed is a much greater level of research investment in this area. Current levels of research funding in the UK targeting skin and tissue breakdown are neglible when compared to the huge amount of money spent on other areas of care and treatment. The Smith & Nephew Foundation is therefore spearheading a campaign to raise awareness of the need for greater research investment. This will involve engaging a range of stakeholders, including the Department of Health and charitable organisations, in a strategy to develop a collaborative approach to future funding.
