Studentships and Fellowships

The Smith & Nephew Foundation awards are focused on funding high calibre nurse researchers who will be role models and potential research leaders in the profession.

The awards are advertised in March each year. They are making a significant contribution to capacity building and all Students and Fellows become part of a growing network of nurses working in centres of excellence in skin and tissue breakdown. These centres focus on portfolios of research that are progressively developing an understanding of tissue integrity and skin breakdown, informing treatment and prevention strategies.

Three key criteria govern the above awards

  • Awards are directed to individuals who are supported by an established UK research team in the fields of skin and tissue breakdown
  • Awards are open and competitive; they are advertised in the professional press for individuals to apply
  • Successful candidates are appointed by a panel of trustees and leading professionals from nursing, using a peer group mechanism for selection

If you would like application forms and more details of these two awards please click on the relevant award above.

The Foundation now concentrates on its Doctoral and Post-doctoral awards, but in the past the Foundation has awarded Research Scholarships and Fellowships. If you would like more details of the winners and their research please click on the links below.
